DATABASES & SQL Hello Year 11. What we would have done if I was in school would be databases and SQL.
You need to: 1. Understand the characteristics of structured and unstructured data 2. Understand that data can be decomposed and organised in a structured database [tables, records, fields, relationships, keys] 3. Understand the need for and be able to use SQL statements

Suggested tasks: 1. Can you create a database in ACCESS using field names and data types? 2. Can you take a database such as the car database from the L Drive and use / search the database using SQL? 3. Can you work through http://sqlzoo.net/ 4. Can you work through http://www.sqlteaching.com/ 5. In the exam you might have to be able to: (1) Design a report for a database (2) Design a structure for a database (3) Explain the difference between flat file and relational databases
So: Every paper, from every exam board has some kind of database question in it. So please do not waste this hour in lesson. Do not waste time looking at crap on the internet.
